September Update
over 1 year ago – Sat, Oct 01, 2022 at 12:29:47 AM

Good morning everyone,

Just a few things to touch on in this update, nothing really groundbreaking. There's still about 10% of backers who haven't completed their Backerkit surveys. That's a bit higher than I would like prior to closing them off, so instead of doing that now like I'd originally planned, I'm going to give it a couple more weeks so that hopefully everyone gets them completed. If you haven't filled yours out you'll get a reminder email a couple days prior to them being locked. Alternatively you can also reach out to me directly and I'll get a new survey link sent to you.

Cards will not be charged for shipping or any add-ons until closer to the fulfillment date. So don't worry about any impending charges when the surveys do close out. I'll send out an update prior to any charges when we get to that point, so no worries there.

But even though we're missing those 10% of responses, I've gotten enough of them to be able to accurately ballpark my dice production. So earlier this week the dice order was sent off to Chessex. In typical fashion with everything else these days, those production prices have gone up, but it is what it is and I'll eat that additional cost. The order is in a very long production que, so I'm glad it got sent it when it did.

For those of you who are getting custom NPC's made, I'd planned on rounding back to you this month but then the entire house got a visit from the gastro fairy so I've had to shuffle stuff around slightly. You can expect to hear from me in October. There's a couple people who I haven't spoken to yet about their characters so I'll be hounding you if you're one of them. And for those who I have begun conversations with, I'm aiming to have the core framework of the characters done by the end of October and then begin the artwork in November.

As far as the book goes, writing continues. The only piece of news there is that while going through the section on player Quirks I felt that it needed more options there for you. So I went ahead and doubled it. There's now a ton of options (both positive and negative) for you to help round out your characters at creation.

That's all I can think of for now. I guess we'll chat again next closer to Halloween!

Oh, almost forgot, did you know that HBO is making a TV show based in the Scanners universe?! How cool is that!! (click on our boy Revok to check it out)

Until next time!

August Update
over 1 year ago – Thu, Sep 01, 2022 at 03:05:21 PM

Hey all,

First off let me say thank you to everyone who has already filled out their Backerkit surveys! There's been a huge amount of them already completed, which should let me get numbers finalized a little earlier than originally expected on things like the dice and past book releases to get manufacturing underway.

The only other thing that I want to chat about has to do with project delivery. At this point I feel that my initial goals of a November delivery for physical items is a pipe dream. I hate to say it, and I'm sure it sucks to hear it, but its where things are at. With the new addition to the family I've had maybe 1/4 of the time I planned on having in the last three months to work on the book. And while I've made good progress for the time I've had, there is still a lot to get done before it can go to final editing and then printing. This will obviously also affect PDF delivery, as I can't deliver something I don't have completed.

The good news however is that things are still moving in the right direction. Other than the custom backer character art pieces, the art portion of the book is effectively done. And with how many backers have already responded to their surveys I'm pretty confident I can get the dice to start being manufactured inside of a couple weeks. School also starts here next week, which means one less child in the house, which should also lead to a large increase in the time I have to dedicate towards getting this done.

Without cutting a ton of corners, and delivering something that is less than the standard of what I set out to create, November just isn't going to happen. I apologize for that, but I'll be sure to add in some fun and unplanned extra bits to the book as I finish it up to hopefully help make up for the wait. As of right now I don't want to stamp a firm delivery month on the project, I think it will be better suited to get to November and see where things are at. By then there should be a much clearer picture of where things currently sit and how long they will take to finish. Until then however I'll be putting in as much time to the book as I can possibly carve out, and will obviously continue to update monthly at a minimum so that everyone is on the same page with where things are at. With a little luck we're only talking a couple months, I want people to get playing this asap.

So ya, not a fun update to have to send out, but I felt it was better to address it early so that it's not a surprise come November when everyone is expecting packages to begin arriving!

Until we chat again at the end of September, I hope everyone is prepared for the impending arrival of pumpkin spice season.....
